Work with me
How I work
I work with a small number of engineering and product organizations at a time — usually founders, CTOs, and VPs who suspect their teams could move much faster, and want someone who has run the org, not just advised it.
Engagement shapes
Advisory
when → You have a capable team and a specific decision or transition in front of you.
A standing cadence with you and your leads: architecture and platform calls, org design, AI tooling strategy, planning process. Think fractional CTO/VP without the fractional politics.
Assessment
when → Something is slow and nobody can say exactly why — delivery, quality, morale, or all three.
Two to four weeks inside the organization: interviews, code and pipeline review, planning artifacts, and a plain-language readout with a prioritized plan you can actually execute.
Embedded transformation
when → You want the change to stick, not just be recommended.
I work alongside the team for a defined stretch — standing up product teams, rebuilding the planning loop, or making AI-accelerated engineering the default way you ship. Outcomes and exit criteria agreed up front.
How I approach problems
- Outcomes before technology. Old code isn't technical debt; unmeasured work is. We prioritize changes with specific, measurable outcomes for customers, the team, or the business.
- Poised to deploy. Before we rebuild anything, we make it observable and easy to change. The ability to adapt a system is worth more than the system.
- Transparency over hierarchy. Candor, shared plans, and visible work — because you can't fix what people are afraid to say out loud.
- Small, real, soon. Ship a v1 in days that tests the assumption, then iterate. The fancy version can wait for evidence.
What a first call looks like
Thirty minutes. You describe what's slow, stuck, or scary; I ask a lot of questions and tell you honestly whether I'm the right person — and if I'm not, who might be. No deck.
